01 DESCRIPTION

In response to growing housing shortage in Los Angeles, Domain + proposes a wholistic approach as opposed to the single points of large scale intervention that often turn their back to the local neighborhoods. The phased micro-intervention proposal rethinks the potential for multi-family intergenerational growth within a traditional fourplex lot in tandem with a street reduction plan that selectively redistributes oversized roadways to public spaces, programed to meet the needs of the neighborhood. The housing design serves as an incubator to establish Community Land Trusts that commit to serving as transitional housing for LA’s unhomed population. By modularizing the units and arranging them around service cores, the lot can grow and adapt as needed.
